If the sky is the limit, why not fly musically!
Why settle for mundane music lessons where you are stuck decoding notes on sheet music at the instrument, then doing a truckload of theory, when your child could be delightfully engaged towards becoming an all-round musician!
How can we help you maximise your potential?
You'll not only develop the ability to play with expression and accuracy but also learn how to include yourself in the dynamics of a live band setting. You'll engage your most important skill- listening- in ways that are vital for a developing and accomplished musician.
Here's why you should play first, then read.
There’s a common misperception that being a virtuoso requires reading music and that reading makes one superior to those who don’t. But consider this: we didn’t need to read before we learned to speak, right?
While reading expands understanding—and yes, we include it in class—an aural approach is more natural and flexible. Music’s roots are oral and aural, reflecting our daily experiences.
By nurturing innate musicality, we empower greater expression, freeing learners to experience music beyond written notes and unlocking limitless possibilities for creativity and connection.
What to expect in a Virtuoso Keyboardist class?
Playing by ear
Yes this is a skill that can be learned. We'll train your musical ear to identify chords and figure out melodies on your own. This skill allows you to play the songs you love without relying on sheet music or YouTube tutorials. Now that is true freedom!
Engaging with music this way makes it more intuitive and fun, helping you become a more independent and confident musician.
Singing and moving
Singing helps to develop sound awareness, a sense of pitch and identifying the notes more easily by ear. Using solfeggio (do-re-mi) trains the ear to recognize musical patterns, intervals, and relationships, building a strong foundation for musicality and improving pitch accuracy.
Movement enhances learning by helping us make connections more quickly. It supports memorization by boosting recall of sequences. By integrating physical movement with learning, we strengthen neural pathways and improve cognitive functions, making it easier to retain and remember new information.
Engaging Materials
Whether it's your songbook or technical exercises, there's no need to go it alone.
You'll have your own virtual band as you practice alongside audio accompaniment on your mobile device, helping you to develop vital listening skills, hand-eye coordination, and hand-ear coordination. This practice prepares you for live performance by building confidence and musical timing in a fun and engaging way.
Aural Training
Aural training is essential for contemporary musicians as it enhances their understanding of rhythm, pitch, and harmony. It strengthens listening skills, allowing musicians to recognize and interpret musical elements accurately. This training also improves improvisation, adaptability, and collaboration, which are common place in today's music scene.
By developing strong aural skills, musicians can communicate more effectively, whether performing, composing, or engaging in any musical setting.
Music Theory
Discover music theory the easy way! When you practice on the instrument first, theory becomes clear and intuitive. Fast-track your progress by applying concepts practically as you learn.
Certification through Exams
You'll be set when the instructor determines you're ready. Adults are not obligated to sign up for examinations.
Theory exams through A.B.R.S.M.
Practical exams through A.B.R.S.M.
Practical exams through Trinity Guildhall
Steelpan Exams through D.C.F.A., U.W.I.
The sign up deadline for exams are usually 2-3 months before the exam date.
