Musikgarten's All Together Now Series: Toddlers

Class Length: 30 mins once a week

Duration: 15 weeks including Required Parent Orientation and Family Music session

Description: These weekly classes are action-filled for toddlers - full of energy, often on the move, always exploring and learning

Music & Spanish: The repertoire is based on nursery rhymes – the beloved poems and chants handed down from generation to generation and we've made it bilingual by including children's songs in Spanish! Nursery rhymes have the staying power of a lasting art form. They offer today’s children the wisdom of the ages as well as what current research and practice tell us children need: communication, movement, interaction, repetition and cultural customs – all experienced in a playful way.

Activities: We'll experience the joy of playing together through finger plays, wiggling and tickling activities, body awareness songs and bouncing songs. Lots of movement is part of this class to allow children to feel the beat of music and learn about spatial awareness while enhancing their gross motor skills and coordination with instruments such as rhythm sticks, jingles, rattles, occasional use drums.

They'll also be engaged in rocking and bouncing activities, circle songs and listening excerpts and tonal and rhythmic patterns to shape listening skills and acquaint the child with the nuances of music. Dancing with scarves and hiding games are also part of the fun!

Teachers & Parents: Children will wander during this class, and we the adults know that we're not to worry... they are still listening and taking everything in!

Materials: Additionally, you’ll receive wonderful CD/Digital Download recordings by a fine children’s choir and outstanding instrumentalists. Using your parent guidebook along with an instrument and/or scarf that comes with the Semester materials to use at home for more fun time together.
