What is JAVA?

The school-break programme that changes everything.

JAVA is the July–August segment of the Iere Semester — a highly engaging, structured, sequential programme designed to give your child a real developmental advantage before the new school year begins.

Not entertainment. Not school holiday activities. A structured, research-backed programme built on how young children’s brains actually develop. It’s always fun for us all year ‘round.

Developmentally Appropriate Music Practice

The internationally recognised standard for early childhood music education — and the foundation of every Alabanza session.

Your child hears it, feels it and does it before they ever read a note. This is not scaled-down adult learning. This is how children who grow up genuinely musical are made — ear, body and mind, from the very beginning.

You’re in the room, not the waiting area

For babies, toddlers, preschoolers and primary-age children, parents and guardians are part of every class — not spectators in a corridor.

The families who have been here the longest will tell you the same thing: what happens in class is only the start. You leave knowing how to carry it forward. You reinforce it all week. That is what separates Alabanza from everything else on the calendar.

🌎

Languages from home and around the world

+ more

Woven naturally into every session — not memorised, but absorbed. Languages learned through music at this age become part of how the brain is wired.

● BRAIN SCIENCE Why music and language are the same thing at this age
Music and language share overlapping neural networks in the brain. Research shows a baby’s auditory window begins to narrow as early as 6 months — but babies exposed to multiple languages hold it open longer. Music activates and deepens those same pathways before they can even speak.

Music isn’t an add-on to language development here. It is language development.

Real Outcomes

Not personality. Trained capacities. Here is what begins to emerge.

This is not about performing a song at the end of cycle. It is about what the right programme does to how your child moves through the world — at home, at school, and in every room they walk into.

🌍
Language & Communication
A child who expresses and understands beyond their age.
Emotional Regulation
Frustration, transitions, and disappointment managed better than their peers. Parents and guardians notice it at home first.
Social Confidence
Walks into any room, finds their place, and becomes the child others gravitate toward.
Cultural Sensitivity
A child who moves through diverse spaces with curiosity, openness, and ease.
Literacy Advantage
A sharpened ear that reads and decodes words with ease.
Mathematical Reasoning
Patterns and critical thinking built through rhythm from the start.
Executive Function
Following a sequence, holding a beat, waiting for a cue. Built in the first years. Compounding for the rest.
Real Musicianship
Beyond just reading notes. A child who plays by ear, composes, improvises, and holds their own in a live band.

Step into the experience. See them begin to emerge.

See It In Action

The neuroscience of music — from birth, in our classes.

This is what Music + Movement + Multilingualism looks like in practice. Watch the joy, the structure and the brain development happening in real time.

Less than a trip to the movies. Less than a sensory playstation. Your child’s brain being built the right way.

Most children will spend this vacation with nothing to show for it.
Parents will notice the brain lag in September.
You don’t have to.

Common questions

What is the difference between the full JAVA programme and an Introductory Experience?
The full JAVA programme (TT$1,000 + TT$300 Musikgarten® Resource Kit) is the complete JAVA experience through August 22 — all sessions, hybrid access, and a Musikgarten® Certificate on completion. An Introductory Experience is either a complimentary Oye online session or TT$400 Ramajay in-person intro — perfect for families who are visiting, exploring, or not ready to commit to the full JAVA programme. The TT$400 Ramajay fee is fully credited if you continue.
What’s included in the Musikgarten® Resource Kit?
Your child’s Musikgarten® Resource Kit is their take-home musical world — a songbook or music packet, age-specific learning materials, a rhythm instrument, and high-quality digital recordings, all developed by Musikgarten® in the U.S. The same resources used by Musikgarten® families worldwide, now in your home. Because the learning doesn’t stop when the session ends.
What is the difference between Alabanza MusicVersity and Versatile Musicians Intensive?
Alabanza MusicVersity is for ages 0–12+ — a parent-and-child weekly programme running through August 22, built on Music, Movement and Multilingualism. Versatile Musicians Intensive is for ages 8+ — five focused mornings, focused on Piano, Voice and Pan. Children build real musicianship — composing, playing by ear, and performing — the kind of skills that stay with them long after camp ends.
What if we miss a class?
No problem. The hybrid access option means you can join the session live online if you’re travelling, or catch the on-demand pre-recorded version to keep up the momentum. Consistency is everything in early development — we’ve built the programme so that consistency never has to break.
What certificates does my child receive?
Families who complete the full JAVA programme receive an official Musikgarten® Certificate of Participation (Alabanza MusicVersity) or complete their journey toward the Musikgarten® Certificate of Completion (Versatile Musicians Intensive — awarded on completion of the full MusicVersity year).
How does JAVA connect to the rest of the year?
JAVA is the final segment of the Iere Semester. Families who complete JAVA transition seamlessly into the Parrandero Semester in September — the first of three semesters in the full MusicVersity year.
Are spaces genuinely limited?
Yes — intentionally managed and age-appropriate class sizes are central to the method. Individual attention is only possible when numbers are kept deliberately low. Some classes fill before registration officially opens on June 4th. We strongly recommend applying early.
